The tree-shaded Horton Township Park on Playground Road fronts Toby Creek and offers a tennis and basketball court, playground, picnic pavilion with charcoal grills, a large grassy play area, and a baseball field. The park is maintained by neighborhood volunteers supported by the township.
One of Pennsylvania’s largest game lands, SGL 44, occupies the northwest corner of Horton Township. The property is a patchwork of reclaimed strip mines and wooded hollows. Through habitat and stocking efforts by the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Pheasants Forever, State Game Lands 44 has become a small-game destination for hunters from throughout the United States.
Toby Creek and some of its tributaries in the township are stocked with trout.
Hunting, Fishing, biking, wildlife watching, and hiking are popular outdoor activities throughout the region.
