Township Recycling Bins

The waste hauler who had previously serviced our recycling center can no longer provide individual dumpster service for the various recyclables.Therefore they have not been able to haul from our recycling center for several months. We have arranged with the provider to install a single dumpster that will accept only mixed plastics and tin/bi-metal. A second dumpster will remain marked aluminum. Local Boy Scout Troop 40 will service the aluminum recycling for now. We can no longer accept glass, however glass can be recycled at the drop off site at OI Plant 19 in Crenshaw. The Supervisors are trying this on a trial basis. Numerous abuses have occurred at the recycling center. The recycling center is for Horton Township residents only. No items other than those listed above are allowed to be put into the dumpsters. The Supervisors have voted to take this on as an additional cost to the township. Abuses of the recycling center will incur clean up costs and additional hauling fees, which could result in closing the center.
